Pittcon 2008 has come and gone in a blink of the eye. I gave a talk this year at the Workshop for the Analytical Markup Language (AnIML).
I think that we put on a good workshop which gave an overview of the upcoming AnIML standard and some demonstrations of how it can be used.
I gave a talk on the AnIML Tools project that I have hosted on Source Forge. This project is still in an early stage but I managed to get a fairly decent first release (Alpha, very Alpha) to demonstrate what we have on the go. You can get a copy of my presentation here.
The only thing about my talk that I would have liked to have done differently would be to present early in the workshop. Burkhard Schaefer opened the workshop with an excellent overview of the AnIML standard. It would have been nice to have presented after this talk to demonstrate a practical use of the standard.
I'm planning on being involved in this workshop again next year. I think next year I want to prepare a talk that will be a full demo of using the AnIML standard. My presentation style has been greatly influenced by DemoCamps. DemoCamps are 20 minute presentations demos to show a piece of software in action (no PowerPoint, just working demos). I'm going to see if I can pull off such a demo next year at Pittcon.
